Air freight is for cargo where time matters more than freight cost: machine parts holding up a mine or a factory, medical supplies, documents, electronics, and fresh produce for export. CFA Logistics books air cargo with airlines and partner forwarders worldwide and handles it through the main airports in Tanzania and Kenya.

How air freight is charged

Airlines charge by chargeable weight: the higher of the actual weight and the volume weight. Volume weight is length × width × height in centimetres, divided by 6,000. A light but bulky box can cost more than its scale weight suggests, so send us the dimensions as well as the weight.

Common questions

How long does air freight from China or Europe to Tanzania take?

Days rather than the weeks that sea freight takes, depending on flight connections and clearing. We'll confirm the routing and timing when we quote.

Is air freight much more expensive than sea?

Per kilo, yes. For small, urgent or valuable cargo, the time saved (and the cost of a stopped operation) often makes it the cheaper choice overall. For anything heavy that can wait, compare with sea freight.
