Land Freight

Land Freight

Trucking from Dar es Salaam and Mombasa inland and across borders to Zambia, the DRC, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda and Malawi, with border clearing.

From the port to your door, and across borders

Most cargo that lands in Dar es Salaam or Mombasa still has hundreds of kilometres to go. CFA Logistics moves containers, loose cargo and heavy equipment by road within Tanzania and Kenya and along the corridors to the landlocked countries next door, handling the border paperwork on the way.

Routes we run

  • Central Corridor: Dar es Salaam to Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda and the eastern DRC
  • Dar es Salaam Corridor: to Zambia, the DRC copper belt and Malawi, via Tunduma
  • Northern Corridor: Mombasa to Nairobi, Uganda, Rwanda and South Sudan
  • Domestic: Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Mwanza, Dodoma, mine sites and project sites across Tanzania; Mombasa and Nairobi in Kenya

Trucks and cargo

  • Container trucks for 20ft and 40ft containers
  • Flatbeds and low-beds for machinery and break-bulk
  • Abnormal loads with permits and escorts (see project cargo)
  • Dangerous goods and explosives, with the permits they need (see explosives logistics)

We work closely with strategic transport partners to put the right truck on every load, and keep you updated on your cargo until it's delivered.

Border crossings

Delays at borders cost more than the kilometres. We prepare transit documents before the truck leaves and work the main crossings, including Tunduma/Nakonde (Zambia), Rusumo (Rwanda), Kabanga (Burundi), Mutukula (Uganda), Namanga and Holili/Taveta (Tanzania–Kenya), and Malaba and Busia (Kenya–Uganda).

Common questions

How long does a truck take from Dar es Salaam to Lusaka?

The drive itself is predictable; the border queue at Tunduma is not. We plan departures around it and give you a realistic delivery date when we quote.

Can you collect straight from the port after clearing?

Yes. When we clear the cargo too, the truck is booked to collect as soon as it's released, which avoids extra port storage. See clearing and forwarding.
